Depression reflection poem - The Black Dog still barks at me
I used to believe that anything was possible
But the Black Dog killed that fire in me
Extinguishing my hopes and dreams
Desire became a thing of the past
Fear becoming the only thing that I could see.
Clinging to certainties
Whilst bursting at the seams
Itching to dive into a life
That was becoming hazier by the day
This disease grabbing each aspiration
And making me watch them float away.
The Black Dog is still barking
His call not so shrill now
Perhaps the dimming has been done
So I can't feel the limbo he put me in.
